Bio
I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a woman in recovery, and a follower of Jesus. I work as a psychotherapist and teacher. In my clinical practice, I work with couples and individuals in distress or who just feel stuck. I also teach college-level professional communication courses.
I’m obsessed with houseplants, chocolate, our pets, and I love a good Netflix series. I like yoga, meditating, journaling, and my latest passion: Tai Chi. I like hanging out with my husband, Graham, our girls, and our pets.
In 1986, life-changing help showed up for me in the form of a 12-step recovery program and Christianity. These two complementary ways of life made sense when nothing else did. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Sciences at Concordia University in Montreal, and then pursued a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology from McGill University also in Montreal. I have worked in the mental health field for over 30 years; primarily in private practice but also in women’s shelters, and drug and alcohol treatment centres.
My Approach
I am a professionally trained psychotherapist whose practice is informed by my lived experience in recovery and personal therapy. In my clinical work, I draw from many types of therapies: Family Systems, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment-Focused Therapy to offer a wide range of options. I believe in “radical self-compassion.”
Building a strong, safe therapeutic connection is key to successful therapy. Success looks different for everyone. I "listen-to-understand" where you’re at, what you want to change, help you determine what success looks like for you, and support you in your journey.
